Why can’t one of the richest nations help their children? The hypocrisy of it all is that the British taxpayers subsidise meals to those who work in the Houses of Parliament. Mps & the Lords all earn way over the average national income. When I get my next cash in hand job I intend not to declare it on my tax return but instead donate it to a relevant charity supporting those in need of help. Perhaps MPs could loose their £25 a day food allowance? equates to £125 per week per MP. I would think given the income they take from the tax payer they could survive without free handouts. Ignoring the uncaring heartless government, local businesses and community groups are banding together to circumvent them (irrespective of the loosely veiled threats).
